Checkout is where store configuration meets customer expectations. Before launch, test the complete journey using the payment provider’s approved test method. A product page that looks correct does not prove that shipping, payment and order notifications work.
Test realistic scenarios
Try a simple product, a variable product, a discount code, different shipping addresses and any pickup option. Confirm that the correct shipping method appears and that the final order total matches the settings approved for the business. Ask a qualified adviser about tax rules; the developer can configure supplied rules but should not invent them.
Check notifications and operations
Confirm that the customer confirmation and store notification reach the expected inboxes. Review order status, stock reduction, fulfillment instructions and refund workflow. Check checkout on a mobile device, including validation messages and address fields. If checkout uses a third-party gateway, verify account approval and live credentials with the provider.
Test again after meaningful plugin or theme updates. Keep a backup before launch and know how to pause sales if a critical issue appears. A short checklist makes it more likely that a real customer can complete an order and that staff know what to do next.
