Shopify to WooCommerce Migration: Data to Review First

Plan product fields, customers, orders, apps, URLs and checkout before moving a Shopify store.

A Shopify to WooCommerce move changes the platform and the operating model behind a store. Before exporting, inventory products, variants, collections, customer records, order history, URLs, apps and payment behavior. Shopify collections do not always map directly to WooCommerce categories, and app data may not be part of a standard export.

Review product structure

Check SKUs, product types, images, options, inventory and custom fields. Create a sample mapping and import a small set first. Review how product URLs will change and prepare redirects for important pages. Note subscriptions, gift cards, reviews and loyalty tools because each may require a supported migration path or replacement.

Protect customer and order data

Customer records and order histories contain personal information. Confirm which data is necessary and who approves the transfer. Payment card credentials generally cannot be moved as reusable data without a provider-supported process. Password reset communication may be needed if customer accounts cannot retain usable credentials.

Test the destination storefront, shipping, payment test mode, order emails and mobile checkout before switching DNS. Keep the source store accessible through the verification period. A migration plan should identify what moves, what changes, what cannot transfer and what the team must do after launch.
